Rory Lobb Trade Request to a Victorian Team 'Likely'

Bombers Not Interested, Giants to Make Offer

Morris: "It Staggering How Much Lobb is on"

Western Bulldogs forward Rory Lobb is expected to request a trade to a Victorian club at the end of the 2023 season, regardless of his playing status in 2024, according to reports.

Former AFL player Kane Morris, now a commentator with SEN SA, believes Lobb's departure is a certainty.

"It staggers me how you can have Rory Lobb on $700,000 a year," Morris said. "He had one big year where he kicked 29 goals in 24 games. It's hardly pressing. Where do the rivers of gold flow at your club?"

It is understood that the Essendon Bombers are not interested in acquiring Lobb, but the Greater Western Sydney Giants are preparing to offer a future second-round pick for his services.

This news is likely to bring an end to Lobb's rollercoaster tenure at the Western Bulldogs. The 30-year-old forward has played 93 games for the club since joining from Fremantle in 2020.

Should Lobb leave the Bulldogs, it will be intriguing to see how the club replaces the tall forward. Aaron Naughton and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan are the most likely candidates to step up in his absence, but it remains to be seen if they can match Lobb's output.
